Free PDF to WebP Converter – Modern Image Format
Welcome to Web tool Bazar's PDF to WebP converter. This tool extracts every page of your PDF and saves it as a WebP image – a modern format developed by Google that provides superior compression compared to JPEG and PNG. WebP images are typically 25-35% smaller than JPEG at equivalent quality, and much smaller than PNG, making them ideal for web use. You can then download images one by one or all together in a ZIP file.
🖼️ Why Convert PDF to WebP?
- Smaller file sizes: WebP compression reduces file size significantly without visible quality loss.
- Excellent quality: Supports both lossy and lossless compression; we use high-quality lossy (90%) for best results.
- Modern compatibility: All major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari) support WebP.
- Web optimization: Perfect for websites, social media, and faster loading.
Note: Text in the resulting images is not selectable – this is a visual conversion only.
📋 Step-by-Step Guide
- Upload your PDF – Drag & drop, click to select, or use the sample PDF (max 50MB, up to 100 pages).
- Click "Convert to WebP" – The tool renders each page at 1.5x scale and saves as WebP with 90% quality.
- Choose download method – After conversion, you'll see thumbnails of all pages. Click the download button under any image to save it individually, or use the "Download All as ZIP" button to get everything in one archive.
⚙️ Technical Details
We use pdf.js to render each page at 1.5x scale for crisp images. The canvas is then converted to a WebP blob using canvas.toBlob() with 'image/webp' and quality 0.9. All blobs are stored in memory so you can download them individually or combined into a ZIP using JSZip. WebP offers excellent compression while maintaining high visual fidelity.
Limitations: Very large PDFs (over 50MB or 100 pages) may result in huge ZIP files and could be slow. For best results, split your PDF first. Also, ensure your browser supports WebP (all modern browsers do).
🧐 Frequently Asked Questions
Is WebP better than JPG or PNG?
For web use, yes – WebP typically provides smaller files with similar or better quality. It's especially good for photos and complex images. For line art or screenshots, PNG might still be preferred for lossless, but WebP also offers lossless mode (though we use lossy for size).
Can I adjust the quality?
Currently, we use a fixed high quality (90%) to balance size and clarity. This gives excellent results for most uses.
Will the images be the same size as the PDF pages?
We render at 1.5x scale, so images are 1.5 times the original PDF dimensions (at 72 DPI). This improves quality without making files excessively large.
Is it really private?
Yes. All processing happens in your browser; no data is uploaded to any server.
What does the sample PDF contain?
